Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

Now that it's over, we can get started on all those spectacular
New Year's Resolutions -- don't let those new sewing machines sit
around collecting dust, it makes them sad. We have some beautiful
new stretch velvets and our spring collection is kicking off with
rayon crepe prints. If you resolved to learn a new skill or polish
up some old ones, we have more classes on the way.

We're starting with Leslie Ashcraft's "Fitting Solutions" and "Tricks of
the Trade" back-to-back Saturday, January 14th. This "Fitting" class will
also be a prerequisite for the next "Jackets" class to start at the end of
the month.

We have a new class in the planning stages for the first weekend in February.
Laurie Lange will teach the design and creation a one-piece garment. Students
will have a choice between a fitted one-piece Persian tunic and an unfitted
blouse. Based on fabric choice and sketched design she will then guide the
sewist in the drawing up of a pattern and its construction. Simple seaming
skills, hemming and neck facing will be covered and advanced sewists can add
details and embelishments at will. We want to make this 4 hour class
convenient to as many people as possible. If you are interested, please email
me (liz@nobhillfabrics) with your preference for Saturday (February 4th) or
Sunday (February 5th) afternoon.

"Fitting Solutions"

3-hour session by Leslie Berky Ashcraft cost - $45 class size limited to 6

Saturday, January 14th, 9:30-12:30.

Are you tired of buying pattern after pattern, searching for "the one" that actually
fits? Or, have you stopped sewing for yourself entirely because your garments gap
open at the center front or hang like muumuus? This fitting class has been created
exclusively to help women identify what has changed about their maturing female
forms and how those changes are reflected in the fit of their garments. (For this
session, we will concentrate mainly on the female form from the waist up.) After
this class, you will know what has been causing your fitting disasters and what
pattern alterations are necessary to prevent any more.

Supply list:

Sewing machine, thread, pins, scissors and cloth tape measure.

4 yards of 45" or 60" white muslin fabric, an indelible sharpie marker, a quilter’s
straightedge and a jacket pattern of your choice.  (Be realistic about your size;
alterations are easier if you're somewhat close. Keep in mind that for purposes of
creating a well-fitting, structured jacket, darting and princess lines are your
