"Men of the Cloth"
a film by Vicki Vailopoulos

Italians Nino Corvato, Joe Centofanti and Checchino Fonticoli are
master tailors who have spent a lifetime perfecting the skills required
to construct flawless custom-made suits for their clients in New York,
Philadelphia and Italy, a fascinating process broken down step-by-step
in "Men of the Cloth". Now in the twilight of their career, they fear that
their Old World knowledge will vanish with them. Enter Joe Genuardi,
a tailoring apprentice who reflects the resurgence of popular interest
in artisanal craftsmanship as an alternative to corporate mass
production, providing hope for the future of their craft.

"Spanish Colonial Textiles Along El Camino Real"! Last month's first session got rave
reviews so they're doing it again! Hosted by the historic Gutierrez-Hubbell House, this
series of historical classes in spinning wool, knitting socks, weaving and Colcha
embroidery is free to the public. July 18th, 19th and 20th from 10am to 2pm.
To enroll call Myra at 505-864-0876 or mchangt@yahoo.com.

This project is funded by Las Aranas Spinners and Weavers Guild, Albuquerque
Fiber Arts Council and the Gutierrez-Hubbell House.

In preparation for the Rapid Transit construction project scheduled to begin
this summer, remember that we have free parking easily accessible from Silver,
one block south of Central.
