A big thank you to Atelier Danielle for bringing her beautiful fabric collection
and garments for a spectacular trunk show.  It was wonderful to see such an amazing
display of textiles from around the world as well as the design and detail she
puts into her work.

The New Mexico Quilters Association is selling tickets for their annual raffle of their 
Balloon Fiesta Quilt. These funds support the Guild for the year.  Last year the Guild 
donated over 600 Quilts to various organizations for those that needed comfort. Included 
are the UNM Hospital Children's ICU,  Veterans,  Safe House, and many more.

We will have the quilt on display at Nob Hill Fabrics July 5th through the 8th.  

Raffle tickets are 1 for $2.00 or 3 for $5.00 .  It is called, "Flying Down the Mother 
Road", designed by Susan MacKenzie with blocks made by guild members.  

The drawing will be held  at Balloon Fiesta Park on Sunday, October 15th, 2017 at 8:30 am. 


REMINDER -- First Day of School Sewing Project

The deadline for The Albuquerque Chapter of the American Sewing Guild "First Day of 
School Project" is coming up fast!  Please turn in your completed outfits
by July 10th so they can be sorted, packaged and delivered to the Title I office.

Where:  Garments can be delivered to Jane Casey at regular Sewing Guild
        meetings on the 2nd Thursdays of the month, 6:30pm, at 
        Asbury Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE.

        We can also accept donations at Nob Hill Fabrics and Jane can

East Meets West: Central Asian Textiles-Back to the Future
Sunday, July 9, 2:00-5:00pm

HoonArts Fair Trade founder Rikki Quintana, will present a talk and slide show on 
the history of Central Asian textiles, including ikat weaving, felting, suzani 
embroidery and more, drawn from her experience working with master artisans in Tajikistan, 
Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. She'll also share some of the insights She's gained about 
the real life challenges of preserving these traditional arts in a world of global 
"fast fashion." And of course, you can touch and feel these unique handcrafted products 
and do your "Christmas in July" shopping if you're so inclined, with the best inventory 
selection of the year.

"Three Artists, Three Approaches to Felting"
Please join us on Sunday, July 16th from 2-5 p.m. for needle felting demonstrations by 
three Fiber Artists.

 * Sandy Liggett will demonstrate felting with a professional grade machine.

 * Judy Chapman will turn wool fiber into sculpted art with felting needles.

 * Mary Black will create portraits using wool fiber and felting needles.

This is a drop-in event, no registration or RSVP required.

Taught by Judy Chapman, Award Winning Fiber Artist

Cost: $75 which includes materials.

on our list or come up with your own.  Joan or Sarah will take you from pattern to 
finished product.  

Saturday mornings: 10:00am-12:30pm

         $35 per class, purchase 4 classes in advance and get a 5th class FREE!
         We will also give a 10% student discount on any fabric purchased during
         a class.

Limited to 3 students per teacher.
